The mission of APASU is to increase the level of awareness and consciousness of Asians and APIA at Old Dominion University. APASU serves as the voice for ODU's APIA community by working in collaboration with other organizations and cultures.

Lunar New Year
2014: Year of the Horse

A celebration of the beginning of the new year according to the lunar calendar. APASU's hosts this event each year representing a different zodiac, and this year we celebrate the year of the horse. This year's Lunar New Year included performances from Jow Ga Kung Fu, and the Veitnamese Student Association (VSA). Other organziations helped us with arts and crafts, including the Chinese Culture and Language Club (CCLC), and VSA.

Charity Date Auction
​
A charity date auction set to help raise money for Relay for Life. We host the auction with our members and other individuals who volunteered, and this is one of our biggest and annual event.
ECAASU 2014
East Coast Asian American Student Union Conference: Washington, D.C.
This year's conference was held in Washington, D.C. and was hosted by George Washington University and Georgetown University. This year's theme was Mission Ignition: Champion Your Cause meaning that attendees were to find their passion and be champions for their particular cause. ECAASU typically is a three-day conference consisting of workshops, speakers, performances, career fair, and networking. This year, ECAASU brought performers like G. Yamazawa, Jen Kwok, US the DUO and speakers such as Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, Richard Lui, Norman Mineta and more!
A.C.E. Revelation
Anh Chi Em Program (Big/Little)

A night dedicated to revealing the Bigs to their Littles. This is a night for Bigs and Littles to meet, and get to know each other officially, as well as hang out with other fellow members and individuals who are a part of the same family.
Field Day
Fall & Spring
​
An event, co-hosted along with the Filipino American Student Association (FASA) and the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA), full of sports activities and games. This event is dedicated to our members and allows them to take a break from exam, school, and just hang out with fellow members and friends.
Yellow Tulip Formal
​
An end-of-the-year formal that brought our members together to end the year off. The formal was dedicated to recapture special moments within the org and with the members, as well as award superlatives and special members who made a change in the org. The formal also announced the Executive Board for the year 2014-2015.
Totoro Workshop
​
A movie night and a workshop combined! This workshop was centered on the movie Totoro and the hidden message that many of our members and viewers have never really thought about.
Stereotype Workshop
​
One of our workshops that revolved around the different stereotypes that the Asian community faces.
Lion Dance Workshop
​
A workshop that we hosted along with the help of Jow Ga Kung Fu School equipment dedicated to helping our members learn how to lion dance. Not only was this workshop centered on learning how, but also incorporated the history and root of lion dancing.
JHOOM
A Bollywood Fusion Night
​
APASU's first culture show that is the sequel to the Bollywood Fusion Night from 2012. This sequel titled jhoom featured a new story that incorporated Bollywood music and dancing with a comedic plot.
Candygram
A Valentine's Day Special
​
An event that allowed our members to give a friend, significant other, and their special someone a candygram on Valentine's Day with their personal messages for only $1!
Dodgeball Night
​
A night dedicated to playing dodgeball. This event helped our members loosed up, hang out with friends, take a break from exams, and just relax and have fun!
Halloween in Asia Workshop
​
A workshop that discussed how Halloween is celebrated in Asian countries, as well as how Western tradition of Hallow's Eve assimilated into Asian cultures. The main source of discussion was member's experience ranging from personal ghosts stories and traditions.
Hunt Club Farm
Halloween Get-Together
​
A trip to Hunt Club Farm, a farm full of scare and horror. Just a get-together for our members that were willing to go for a night of horror and excitement.
Ugly Sweater Party
​
One of our last events for the Fall semester and an event before finals week. Members were encouraged to wear their ugliest sweater to the party! We also hosted a White Elephant gift exchange that allowed others to steal another's gift. Just an event to enjoy each others company, and enjoy some holiday music.
Language Workshop
​
A workshop that allowed our members to learn different languages varying from Vietnamese, Tagalog, Chinese, and Thai. With the help of our fellow members who spoke the languages fluently, our members were able to learn a thing or two about phrases that vary for each language.
Zoo-Boo
Volunteering at Virginia Zoo
​
A volunteer opportunity that we took our members to, located at the Virginia Zoo just 5 minutes from ODU! We were able to dress up as characters from fairytales and stories to help entertain visitors of the Zoo, as well as children during their Halloween event. It was a fun volunteer opportunity!
